HEAVEN IS HERE — THE TIME IS NOW by Cecilia Loving

If times appear difficult and you experience one struggle after the next, it is only because the time for your transformation is here. The days may appear bleak but your challenges are your blessings. Spirit is always here to pull you through the rough times —  to encourage you to surrender to  its limitless supply and inexhaustible source.

There is no need to wait for a “9/11” or for some catastrophic event to take place in order for you to know that God has your back. You don’t need to wait to experience the Kingdom of Heaven in the hereafter.  Jesus teaches you that it is here and now.   Heaven  is a consciousness that is always available to you.

The word “heaven” used in the Bible means expanding. Your dreams, your goals, your commitment to doing what Spirit has called you to do is part of your expansion. Heaven is always expanding to embrace you.  You expand by releasing lack, frustration and despair and believing instead in the omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence of Spirit in you.

You lost your job? So what. You lost that opportunity you had staked your hope in? So what.  God is trying to make you realize that there is something better in store. God is trying to make you aim higher than before.  You can wear the biggest hat, hold the most prestigious position, and kneel in a temple made of pure gold, but it means nothing if you don’t recognize the Kingdom within.

The time to move away from appearances is now. The time to move away from confusion is now. The time to move forward as a full expression of Spirit is now.

Take the road that makes a difference by looking at yourself in the mirror and telling you how much you love you just the way you are.

If you don’t love yourself, then no matter what road you take, you will be lost. There is so much in you that wants to be and needs to be loved. But part of loving who you are is being honest about what you need to do to be your best.

Ask yourself: How can I feel even better about myself? How can I slowly begin to take the steps that make me appreciate who I am? How can I slow down long enough to connect with the Divine Source that will lead me in the right direction? How can I enjoy each aspect of living and moving and being as part of the seamless energy that makes me uniquely me? How can I be about my business — without worrying about what anyone else thinks? How can I trust the love leading me — from my own heart?

When you begin to see the truth for yourself — that you hold the map to the best path and you can follow your own faith to the Kingdom of Heaven — you will find that place where all of the power, all of the peace, all of the joy that you need is already expanding. Trust me, and allow heaven to expand in you. There is no need to wait for a new season, the time is now.

NOT AGAIN By Cecilia Loving

Okay, I admit it.  Just before Christmas, I prayed for snow.  It wasn’t a long or involved prayer — just a mantra that I kept on the edge of my tongue, a vision that lingered at the forefront of my thoughts.  And perhaps just once, I actually said: “I wish it would snow.”  Or maybe I said it twice.  At this point, I can’t remember because now I just wish it would stop.  Yes, I am actually knee-deep in the answer to my prayers sighing — “not again.”

Prayer opens a spigot of God’s good that can’t be turned off at whim.  The Universe wants to give us what we want — especially if there is no harm to anyone else.  Why shouldn’t we want snow?  Agriculturalists tell us that it is an excellent insulator for gardens, protecting natural landscape and animal inhabitants against low temperatures.

We may get tired of putting on our UGGS, but the wintery white stuff provides the necessary moisture to plants that would be at a risk of injury without it.

My favorite drink is water, which is also what I use in my showers and baths — not to mention for cleaning dishes and doing laundry.  While some may think that 10 inches of snow equals 1 inch of rain, it can actually contain as much as 5 inches, depending on the snowflake’s crystal structure.   Slow snow melts cause trickles that seep into the earth to purify water for drinking.

Calm winter snows wrap God’s grace around us, reminding us to go within.  Beneath the snow, we transform.  We wait.  We learn to ask for what we want and to be courageous enough to receive it.  We remember that we are no more than tiny specks in the cosmic flow of spiritual breath.  We slow down, like each unique crystal dancing from heaven to the ground, realizing that we need to enjoy the process before we melt in the crack of someone’s boot.  Our journey shows us the presence of God in everything: laughter at falls when we know we can get up again; releasing the past when we trust that we just move forward; brushing ourselves off when we discover patience with each step that we take.

Proverbs doesn’t say “not again”; it says “[s]he is not afraid for her household when it snows, for all in her household are doubly clothed.”  When we are clothed in the Spirit, we have all of the protection that we need.  I was outside yesterday when the first flake fell. I saw the Holy Ghost pull the good out of souls, saw them help each other push cars, balance over piles and navigate subway stairways.

Isaiah doesn’t say “not again”; he says “[m]y word . . . is like  . . . snow.  It will not come back to me without results, but it will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do.”  When we speak God’s word, it always returns a blessing.  When we give of ourselves, God throws “open the floodgates of heaven and pour[s] out so much good that there is not room enough to receive it.”

How are you embracing this extraordinary manna of God?  Are you ready for living water to fall into your life?  Do you stop long enough to grin at the spectacular show of new life unfolding in the air around you?  Watch what you say and what you wish for: words always have a way of returning.  The universal ethers are full of your hopeful longings, just waiting for the right nudge into manifestation.

So when you see the snowflakes cover every shape and form, say with assurance “in God we live and move and have our being.”  When you feel the first flakes melt on your tongue, say “be still and know that I am God.”  When you realize that you are knee-deep in Absolute Good, refrain from mumbling “not again” — just spin an angel out of flapping arms, fashion white balls of cold slush, or step gracefully through the abundance of this season, and say “glory, glory, hallelujah.”

DEMONSTRATING OUR GOOD: CONNECTING WITH THE SOURCE By Cecilia Loving

Matthew 7:7-8 reminds us that we have the power to demonstrate our good.  In fact, Jesus explains just how simple it is.  “Ask,” he says, “and it will be given to you.”  He says, “Seek, and you will find.”  And just in case, you don’t get that, he says “knock and the door will be opened to you.”  Yet, we over-complicate things.  We deny the power of God’s image and likeness.  We suffocate our good with constant worries.  We say that we are devout followers of the Word and yet, we still complain about the appearances of things.  We undermine God’s absolute good, even though the Universe begins the process of demonstrating it as soon as we ask.

As Tyler Perry said in his recent performance of Madea’s Big Happy Family at Madison Square Garden, God has a geographical positioning system that clicks on as soon as we ask.  In the big “GPS” of life, God zooms in our good and begins to direct us to exactly where it is located.  The major challenge that we face is that things may not happen when we want them to.  The person who we thought was Mr. or Mrs. Right wasn’t the one at all.  We don’t get the job that we thought was perfect for us.  The money that we anticipated does not manifest when we believed it would.  The apartment that we hoped that we would remain in forever is destroyed by a storm.  Just when we were soaring to the height of our fitness goals, a health challenge presents itself.

We seemed to be on the right course, headed in the right direction.  But as soon as we thought we were well under way, we hit a pothole.  But delay doesn’t mean that our prayers are not being answered.  It doesn’t mean that we have strayed off course.  It simply means that we may not arrive when we anticipated.  But we will be in our right place, at our right time, in perfect divine order.  It means that in order to recognize Mr. Right, we have to first meet Mr. Wrong.  It means that in order for us to be directed to the best, God needs to close a few doors first.  It means that our manna is flowing to us from channels that we cannot even imagine. It means that there is a better living environment awaiting us.  It means that we have to slow down, and listen to our bodies.

We are not only blessed by what we ask for but by the process of its manifestation.  The journey blesses us, as well as our final destination.  We never are who we were when we set out.  We deepen our faith by allowing God to do whatever is necessary to help our dreams take shape.  We learn to believe by growing in trust.  A detour is not a sign to throw in the towel but a push to move us beyond our comfort zones — to go where we least expected, to reach for something that we never imagined.

Life is a teacher of endless possibilities and a universe of unlimited source.  We are connected to infinite channels of good, not merely connected to the one that we had the capacity to imagine.  We have to be fooled sometimes, only so we learn not be a fool.  We have to be outsmarted, so that we become smart.  We have to remain silent, so that we learn when to speak up.  Our good may not look as perfect as we anticipated but we aren’t perfect either: whatever or whoever it is — is what or who is perfect for us.  Whatever the situation, we cannot stop short of our good just because we are confronted with a challenge.

We need to remember that we are here to co-create with the consciousness that we were born with.  God is not just God above, or God as judge, or God as answer, or even simply God as love.  God is transformational energy that is constantly creating as us.  God is the force that pushes us to the finished line. All we have to do — Tyler Perry was saying — is stay the course!

In Philippians 3:14, Paul said forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead.  Press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Jesus Christ.  He was saying, I’m not there yet, but I am going to stay focused on the power pulling me toward the attainment of my goals.  Our desires are from the same spiritual ethers that give us life; they are God’s good seeking us.  They awaken us, and they give energy and power and strength to move throughout the universe as Spirit’s infinite seeds of God, waiting to take shape.

We are part of the creative evolution of the universe, called here to not only be the living manifestation of good but to be the continuous flow of good for others.  We are the trajectory of God’s creation, and the good that we long for — the things and the people and the desires that we have — are here because the Universe needs us to bring them forth.  God doesn’t want us to be deprived of anything.

Our goals are not our own, they are God’s vision of good for us.  Our dreams are not our own, they are God’s good transforming us. Even our victory — the prize that we are reaching for — is not our own; it is part of the universal fabric that nurtures God’s soul as us.  We are incredible because we are the wind.  Nothing stands in the way of our success.  Every rock and crevice and stone that we must climb is made of us.  We are the living foundation of the door upon which we knock.  We stand on the shoulders of so many ancestors that if we really wanted to — we could walk on thin air.

We want a sure thing: we ask for it.  Well, Jesus simply says look within.  Seek and you will find.  Jesus says this again and again, but most profoundly in Luke 17:21 — when he says “the Kingdom of God is within you.”  What does that mean? It means that there is the YOU that you see in the flesh, the YOU that is part of the third dimension of texture and form and shape and depth.  But there is also the YOU that always present in the unseen world.  There is part of YOU that is not subject to the limitations of the physical but is the manifesting energy of the invisible, the unknown, the unattained, and the infinite: that part of YOU realizes its oneness with God.

We are not simply worthy to know God, we are worthy to be the temples of God that we are.  Without God, we would not exist; and we exist to give meaning and fulfillment to God’s purpose.   So, why are we afraid of not having enough — when God’s storehouse is unlimited?!  Give the goodness that is you, and the prophet Malachi says God will open the windows of heaven and pour out such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

We are the dream that created us.  We are the endless possibility that life is breathing into our veins.  Our good is God seeking us.  Just as much as we want the transformation, our good wants to take shape.  Source is flowing from the Kingdom within; all we have to do is connect with it.  All we have to do is trust that ultimately Spirit will move us over the rough terrain, up the rocky mountains, and across the deep waters toward our destination — until we look up one day — and find ourselves experiencing not only what we asked for but something soooooooo much better.

POWER PRAYER FOR HEALTH, WHOLENESS AND PROSPERITY By Cecilia Loving

Center yourself for a moment in the silence,
breathing in and breathing out the divine presence,
in which we live and move and have our being.
And allow yourself to turn on and tap into a prayerful state of being One with all of the Goodness and Greatness that God Is.

When we are really centered in Oneness, we realize that we do not have to pray for God to make an appearance.
We do not have to hope that we will be given Wholeness and Health and Realization of our Greatest Good.
We do not have to long for Prosperity and Riches and Divine Ideas.
We do not even have to worry about the right relationships and loved ones.
We only have to realize that God is here.
Spirit is here.
Love is here.
Perfect health and wholeness is here.
Infinite and inexhaustible source is here.
It is as the Apostle Paul said,
the Divine Source that
we live and move and have our being in.

Feel the love of the Oneness of Spirit engulf you and uplift you
and vibrate within every cell of your being.
Know that the power of your potential and your talents and your gifts
radiate out from you to attract the right person
and the right circumstances
and the right channels for you to be blessed
with good that is greater than you could ever imagine.

If there is health and wholeness that you want,
it is embracing you right now.
If there are divine opportunities that you want,
they are knocking at your door right now.
If there is hope that you need,
it is giving way to deeper understanding right now.
As Jesus said, don’t worry about what you will eat,
and what you will drink,
and what you will wear.
The Father-Mother-Everything-Almighty Love that
is never separate from you already knows what
you have need of — before you even ask.
Yes, we have judged by appearances.
We have sat by the pool of Bethesda,
and even when the water was stirred,
we refused to get in.
We have been afraid to walk the water
even when we held Spirit’s hand as our own.

We have asked — not believing.
We have sought — not to find, and
we have knocked — seriously doubting that the door would be opened.
But today, in this season of your birth, we will turn a new leaf.

We will open our hearts to the Kingdom of God is within us.
We will do the things that we never believed possible.
We will be restored the years that the locust has eaten.
We will trust that our Father and our Mother God
will fill us with the awesome power of new dimensions,
bless us with the miraculous promise of new heights, and
anoint us with the holy salvation of greatness.

We will open our hearts to receive the perfect health, wisdom and truth,
of all that Love is.
We will learn to walk on the water of Faith,
and ride the wings of Spirit’s might.
We will reach more and more and more of our goals,
and know the hallelujah of an answered prayer — again,
and again,
and again.

We will wear our blessings well
because we already flow with the unlimited
power of the universe —
manifesting it’s good in all shape and form.
We will wear the transformation of a new freedom
— to really express our being as the children of the most High
and the prophets of a New Age.

We will sing songs of gratitude without end,
and worship because we are worthy.

We will thank the earth for its strength, the universe for its ideas, the vortex for its vision,
and the love that radiates as life —
for teaching us that there is nothing that we cannot do,
nothing that we cannot imagine,
nothing that we cannot be with the power of God.
We will ride the storm.
We will weather the tide.
We will prevail against the mighty waves.

We will be reborn in the glory of strength, wisdom, and success.
We will thank Jesus for teaching us that we are gods.
We will really remember that the Holy Spirit is in us,
and so is the Father,
and so is He.

We are the joyful season of promise —
ageless in our task and unlimited in our mission.
We are the seeds of pure possibility —
rising through lack to claim our abundance.
We are the hope of change —
full of God’s good health,
Spirit’s unlimited movement,
and Love’s infinite strength.

We are the new joy of a day.

And so it is, and so be it.

GOD’S LOVE EXPRESSING AS US by Sherri Roberts-Lumpkin

DSC08154[1]Mother Teresa put it aptly when she wrote, “I am a tiny pencil in the hand of God, writing a love letter to the world.” But would God use me — a brown girl — to express love in the world?   The answer is yes.  Love is part of the very fiber of our being — not separate from who we are; it was created when we were created and it never stops creating itself.  Love is in our hearts; and we are in the heart of love.  As John says, “[e]veryone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”  (1 John 4:19) Many brown girls the world over suffer from a lack of self-esteem, which is really a lack of self-love and self worth. We are inundated with so many negative opinions of us — from the media, family and friends, or our own minds. We are obessessed with who we aren’t, what we aren’t, what we haven’t done, how we don’t look, where we haven’t been, why we can’t — rather than focused on the love of God blessing us and lifting us unconditionally.   Roberta Flack sings, “where is the love?”  To find love, we have to stop looking outside of ourselves and dig deep within.  We have to release the beliefs that society imposes on us, as well as our own self- imposed negative thoughts about ourselves. The best way to start loving yourself is through forgiveness.  We have to forgive society.  We have to forgive the world.  We have to forgive ourselves.  We have to forgive the haters and even the discriminators.  We have to forgive those who hurt us.  We have to forgive those who Sherri Lumpkin Photolost our trust.  The amazing thing is that forgiveness is not for the other person, it is for us.  Forgiveness opens our hearts to accept the love that is always inside — and by so doing, forgiveness creates spaces to accept the love of others.  Brown girls need love like everybody else.   Brown girls have a tremendous capacity to love too — because we are here to radiate the love of God as us — in our beauty, in our rhythm, in our warmth, in our strength,  in our wisdom, in our creativity, in our dance, in our song, in our power, in our intelligence, in our compassion.  The problem is that we need to believe that we are the best thing that ever happened to us — not a man or a job or an opportunity — just us.  When we brown girls truly begin to believe in our self-worth, then we will begin to pass our love to the world. The Ragbaby Exchange uses doll-making to help release the layers of self doubt and unforgiving attitudes to uncover the love and beauty of the brown girl.   The magic of making and embracing our love through dolls is healing. Doctors use dolls to calm patients with dementia. Social workers and therapist use dolls to help victims of abuse express what has happened to them. Children hold and play with dolls to comfort them but while playing they learn how to be nurturing. God is a Brown Girl Too 2010 Retreat 032The Ragbaby Exchange engages participants of all ages in doll-making as a way to express themselves. The dolls becaome their self-portrait.  This self-portrait begins the process of discovery that brings about a sense of acceptance of one’s own love and beauty. Through our doll-making workshops, we peel back the layers of negative thoughts and allow you to: • express your thoughts and emotions in healthy growth producing ways, • gain a sense of accomplishment, which helps move you toward self affirmation and divine potential, • learn to forgive, accept and value yourself and others, • see your own inner beauty and feel the love inside of you. Once we can see our own beauty and feel our own love expressed through this doll, we are able to be that tiny pencil. Through our release and acceptance of self, we become the words in God’s love letter.  When we decide to pass our beautiful loving self-image to another person, in effect, they are given a love letter from God, which says, “I love you.”  Peter said,  “above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”  (I Peter 4:8) Change your life by joining me at God is a Brown Girl Too, and start a chain reaction of spreading God’s love with a little brown doll filled with your love.   Sherri Roberts-Lumpkin, Founder/Creative Director,  The Ragbaby Exchange, will be doing some fantastic workshops at the Retreat, using the power of dolls to transform a Brown Girl’s love and appreciation of herself.

CREATING WEALTH, by Myreah Moore

listeningCreating Abundance is about the good that we desire — regardless of how it takes shape. Good can be health, relationships, creativity, funds — whatever you need, when you need it. The most important thing about prosperity or abundance is that it is always available to us. Jesus said, ask and you shall receive. The only limit on our ability to receive is what we place on it. We should claim our good on a daily basis. This is demonstrated by the fact that there is not a particular class or race or culture that attracts wealth. Wealth is attracted by people who emanate the type of energy and focus and joy that empowers them to manifest prosperity. If there is a specific type of person who attracts wealth, it is someone who is confident, creative and connected with the Inexhaustible Supply of the Universe. You might be able to identify them by their buoyancy, synergy, clarity, or wisdom. You might be able to feel their serenity, grace, or compassion. You might be able to see their gifts and talents and accomplishments. They come in all shapes, sizes, ages, cultures, religions, and ethnic groups. But — unlike many people — they all know that they are blessed and highly favored.100 Even when everyone else is suffering from the appearance of a disastrous economy, those who are prosperous keep wearing the blessing of favor. How? Because they have transcended, looked beyond, lived above, lifted up their consciousness from what others are complaining about — and instead have connected with Infinite Source. Infinite Source is unlimited, flowing in the realm of spiritual ethers. It is our choice to see a cup half full or half empty. And like anything else that we can choose, we can choose to have a prosperity consciousness. We can choose to celebrate what we have and believe that we can always be supplied by Spirit. Our desires should not be the empty cup, but the full cup of our good seeking us. Our desires help us understand that we are more than merely human; we are divine. Through our divine nature, we can develop and maintain a consciousness without the limits or lack or doubt or fear that would keep us from demonstrating the abundance of God. There are millions of ways to demonstrate our good. Four simple steps, for example, can used to create a consciousness of wealth: 25The First Step is believing that you can create wealth. The Second Step is cleansing your mind to receive wealth. The Third Step is being clear about your wealth goals. The Fourth Step is invoking the magic number of increase. I will talk about how to implement all of these steps during my God is a Brown Girl Too Workshop: “Creating Abundance.” But in the interim, remember that you are a child of God, a child of a loving Mother-Father-God — always blessed and highly favored. You do not depend on people or conditions for your prosperity; they are merely channels. You bless those channels but at the same time acknowledge that Spirit is the sole source of your supply. Through Spirit, your good will flow to you effortlessly and easily. Through Spirit, you will always be guided and directed. The doors to your victory will open at just the right time that you need to enter them. The channels to your prize will bring forth the right people, circumstances and situations. The pathways to your success will lead you to the triumph of a resounding “Yes!” All you have to do is know that “Yes!” is the resounding Amen to all that you desire.

BROWN GIRLS DON’T NEED TO WORRY: OUR WORK IS DONE, by Cecilia Loving

God is a Brown Girl Too 2010 Retreat 235When we are called to do something, the work that we know we need to do in the physical world is already done in the spiritual world.  Jesus said ask and you shall receive.

This is simply another way of saying, it is already done, but asking and believing are the tools that you need to use in order to see your desire take shape.

This is easy, simple stuff that is so hard for us in our human-ness to do.  But Jesus taught us that we are gods.

So when we are Spirit-moved into action, Soul-motivated to accomplish a goal, we don’t have to worry about how it will take shape. ownership 12

God always does the work that God appoints us to do.

The right people will show up to help us, mentor us, bless us, guide us, prosper us.  The right situations will unfold.  Even if we can’t see the finish line, the road will rise us to meet us, and show us the way — when we are tuned in and turned on to Spirit.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re a multimillionaire from Scarsdale or a brown girl from the South Bronx, the same God is blessing you from the same Infinite Source.

When the news is burdening your soul with the appearance of lack, it is even more important to affirm for yourself, my work is done.   When you truly believe that it is done and you speak it boldly and courageously in your life, Spirit will knock you over with the abundance of success.  You will find that you don’t need to be captive to a consciousness of lack because God is always making a way out of no way.

You will know without a doubt that all of those things that you need in the material world are manifesting right now.

You will start recognizing the pure potential that God is expressing as you.

ownership 6You will begin to embrace the divine legacy that is yours because you know that the Word of God — spoken from your lips to the ears of the Universe is as good as it gets. great 7 You won’t need to tip-toe around the periphery of your greatness because you will acknowledge that Spirit expressed through you is the omnipotent creator of the shape and form and texture of everything in your midst!

My work is done!  So you can awaken to the truth that Jesus taught — that the Kingdom of God is within us.  And in that Kingdom of God, everything that you want, that you need, that you plant — is done.

When we can say affirmatively and powerfully that it is done, we know that we do not need the economic appearances of health, the promises of others, the limited resources that we see in the physical world: the only thing that we need is the full and complete understanding of our divine nature.

When we say it is done, we really do walk by faith and not by sight.  We really do step through our self-imposed boundaries and move into a new existence.

WHERE DO I BEGIN TO SEE THE DIVINITY WITHIN? by Cecilia B. Loving

God is a Brown Girl Too 2010 Retreat 134For ages, women and girls of color — of every nationality, ethnicity, and origin — have been dehumanized, marginalized, enslaved, murdered, raped, or otherwise oppressed — as the “least” of humanity.  But we are all Gods.

As the Bible teaches, whatever you did or didn’t do for the least of us, you did or didn’t do for God.

Whatever you did or didn’t do for your brother or sister who suffers from poverty, hopelessness or despair, you did or didn’t do for God.

Therefore, self-empowerment, self-enlightenment, and self-love for those often viewed as the “least of us” is the starting point for this ministry — because the liberation of God is a Brown Girl Too 2010 Retreat 073those most in need is the catalyst by which we all obtain salvation.

We must not only celebrate “brown girls” of all ages and hues, across every race, culture, country, sexual orientation, and self-expression — but also uplift everyone who needs  uplifting.  Somehow, through the passing of time and the re-writing of history, we have lost our divine legacy, or have simply turned a blind eye to the truth that we are spiritual beings in physical form.

The Bible says that God created human beings in “our image, in our likeness . . . . male and female” God created them (NIV Genesis 1:26-27).   This teaches us that God is not the proverbial old white man in the sky that so many of us grew up imagining God to be, but that each one of us are — as Paul said — temples of God, made in God’s image and likeness.

In Romans 8:9, the biblical witness said “Ye are not [merely] flesh, but… the Spirit of God dwells in you.”  In John 10:34-35, Jesus said, “it is not written in your law, I said, ye are Gods.”   In fact, Paul said that we “live and move, and have our being” in God (Acts 17:28).

DSC_0253If we really believe that God made all of us in God’s image and likeness, we should have no problem believing that each one of us, including the “brown girl”, is a God, too.  This is meant to expand the notion of humanity’s Oneness with God.

The oldest bones of the mother of all civilization were found in Africa.  If the brown girl, who is the foundation of all life, has become disconnected from spiritual Oneness, then so has all creation.

But if the brown girl can realize God as herself, then so can all humanity.  We are not authentic because we are religious but because we realize that we are power; we are love; we are truth; we are Spirit; we are Gods.

The truth, Beloved, is that we don’t need anything or anyone other than this full and complete understanding of our divine nature because when we know that we are divine, then we truly begin to experience the same consciousness that was in Jesus Christ.

The knowledge of this Truth is the Kingdom of God — without which, we will never be full and complete.  In God Is A Brown Girl, Too (© 2009), the Legend reads:

who will discover  the bones of the plain brown girl
whose skull is as old as time
buried deep in the recesses
of prayers long forgotten,

older than Lucy’s bones,
older than Eve’s mother,
older than dirt. soul-sings-illustration-1.jpg

                                                            who will look long enough
into her empty sockets,
who will dare to see themselves
gazing there.
who will find the courage to lift
their legacy out of the realm of
the forgotten,
and speak the Truth
once again.

Not that we’re looking for God,

but, Oh, that we have found Her.
